Burnley players celebrate their dramatic comeback at Crystal Palace

Burnley produced one of the most remarkable comebacks of the Premier League season, scoring three goals in seven first-half minutes to overturn a 2-0 deficit and beat Crystal Palace 3-2 at Selhurst Park.

Oliver Glasner’s side, marking his 100th game in charge, appeared to be cruising thanks to a brilliant brace from Jorgen Strand Larsen. The Norwegian striker opened the scoring on 18 minutes with a thunderous drive from the edge of the box before doubling Palace’s lead on 33 minutes with a clinical near-post finish from a Marc Guehi cross.

At 2-0, the home crowd were in fine voice and a routine victory seemed inevitable. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary.

Seven Minutes of Madness

Hannibal Mejbri pulled one back on 40 minutes with a deflected strike that wrong-footed Dean Henderson. Four minutes later, Jaidon Anthony drew Burnley level with a superb solo effort, cutting inside from the left wing and curling a shot into the far corner.

Then, deep into first-half stoppage time, Palace’s nightmare was complete. A scramble in the box ended with Jefferson Lerma turning the ball into his own net under pressure from Nathan Redmond. 2-0 had become 2-3 in the blink of an eye.

A Lifeline for Burnley

The second half saw Palace throw everything forward, but Burnley’s defence held firm — goalkeeper James Trafford producing a superb double save in the 78th minute to preserve the lead.

The result ends Burnley’s 16-game winless run in the Premier League — their first victory since October — and could prove to be the catalyst for a late survival push. They remain in the bottom three but are now just two points from safety.

For Palace, it was a chastening afternoon and one that will linger in the memory for all the wrong reasons. Glasner was visibly furious at full-time, refusing to speak to the media.

Burnley: Trafford; Roberts, Ekdal, Harwood-Bellis, Taylor; Mejbri, Cullen; Anthony, Brownhill, Redmond; Rodriguez.
